I don't think Jane Austen would believe the story she wrote of a young Miss Bennett & a very rich Mr. Darcy is loved 200 years down the line. How many films, book spin-offs & TV mini-series are there all around the world?! I think she would explode with joy - I certainly would! In 1813, Pride and Prejudice was released with Jane only receiving £110 for the publishing rights. Over the years it has made millions & won awards.
With Mr. Darcy being the rich male lead in the films, it is important to get him right. Now, there are 3 versions of Pride and Prejudice that I am in love with. The first is the 1995 6-hour-long TV series starring Colin Firth who is as handsome as ever! Then there is the 2005 version Of Mr. Darcy played by Matthew Macfayden who has a heavenly voice and the most perfect eyes you could ever dream of. But let's not get carried away here! Finally Mr. Darcy 2008 Edition. Elliot Cowan stars in the adaptation Lost In Austen. If you have NOT seen it it is a must-see! & I think he talks a lot more in this version, which I love even more!
There are also In the numbers of at least 100 adaptations of the books. Giving Mr. Darcy Fangs, The Bennett Sisters Weapons for Killing Zombies, Diaries From the Men & I think there are some to do with sea creatures or something, murders & probably more I haven't discovered yet. My personal favourite is Mr. Darcy's Diary by Amanda Grange. Writing about Miss Elizabeth and things he is doing when he is not with Mr. Bingley or in the company of his aunt Lady Catherine. It just makes you fall in love with him a little more than you already were!
Cast Of Lost In Austen
Lost In Austen is the funniest version I've seen of Pride and Prejudice. However, it is not the story as you may know it. Lost In Austen is based on the life of Amanda Price, a modern day woman completely in LOVE with Pride and Prejudice, someone in love with the love story. Amanda finds herself trapped in the story after Lizzie came through a door only to switch places with her leaving Amanda in Hertfordshire and Lizzie in modern day London. Along the way we find a few things dont go the way they should. Jane marries someone who is not Bingley, Charlotte leaves for Africa & Miss Bingley is NOT attracted to men! And Mr Wickham is someone you would not expect, which makes me fall in love with him also in this series.
Unfortunetly Jane Austen died young and unmarried. Even though she didn't know it, she wrote one of the most beloved stories in the English language which will undoubtedly be re-written & re-filmed another 100 times by the time its 300th birthday arrives.
What's your favourite part of Pride and Prejudice? Or favourite adaption made from it? I do love them all.. I could watch/read them over & Oover again without getting bored. Well I have watched a version of Pride and Prejudice nearly every night since as long as I can remember.
I wish to read as many of the books as I can find.
